Haacht provides its youth with a modern, safe, and inspiring place to skate and gather.
With the construction of the new skatepark near the Den Dijk sports center, Haacht provides its youth with a modern, safe, and inspiring place to skate and gather. The old skatepark was replaced by this new one, just 50 meters further on, to better meet the needs and desires of the local youth.
Not just 'a skatepark'
The new skatepark is equipped with a wide range of ramps and other skate obstacles, designed for both beginners and advanced skaters. The involvement of local youth in the design process has resulted in a park that perfectly meets their needs. This project is not just a sports facility, but also a social gathering place where young people can meet and improve their skating skills.
A long journey, with a rapid realization by Nine Yards.
In 2021, the municipality of Haacht, in collaboration with 'Formaat vzw', conducted a survey among the youth of Haacht. More than five hundred young people participated. The survey revealed that Haacht's youth needed 'to be able to occupy public space' and also wanted to roll up their sleeves and get involved. After three years, the dedication and patience of the local youth were rewarded with a brand new skatepark. Due to the long lead-up to the project, a rapid realization was crucial. The project was given priority so that local skaters would no longer be without quality facilities.
