An upgrade for Brasschaat: a brand new skate park and pump track in just five weeks
The Nine Yards team crossed borders once again. The result is a new Skatepark in Brasschaat. This skate park offers skaters, of all levels, a fresh and challenging place to improve their skills. In just five weeks, together with Hertsens Infra, we realized a design that is both functional and visually attractive. Fully tailored to the wishes of the local skaters and the corporate identity colors of the municipality. Pumpfactory has simultaneously constructed a pump track in the area, which completes the visitor experience.
The needs of city Brasschaat
The municipality of Brasschaat wanted to transform the old skate park into a modern and vibrant space for the local skating community. The challenge was the short timeline of five weeks, with four other contractors also active in the same construction period. Local skaters gave clear input about their favorite obstacles and dimensions during the intensive participation process. We have fully integrated this input into the design, so that the new skate park exactly meets their wishes. The short lead time and coordination with other activities in the area made the project extra challenging.
The realization by Nine Yards
Nine Yards Skateparks started construction of Skatepark Brasschaat in March 2024 and completed the project at the end of April 2024, within the tight timeline of five weeks. The entire sports park, including the skate park, the calisthenics (outdoor fitness) zone and the pump track, received NEN certification, which guarantees the highest quality and safety standards.
For the renovation of the old skate park, we used recycled mixed granulate and aggregates, with which we created the mass for the new skate park. This emphasizes our commitment to sustainability and efficient use of materials. The municipality of Brasschaat selected the colors for the skate park elements, which now fit seamlessly with the municipality's house colors and give the skate park a recognizable local appearance.
