On the road to the Olympics: an adjustable skatepark STC The Hague
With skateboarding's inclusion in the Olympic Games, there was a demand for a professional training facility. Two years before the Games, we, in collaboration with Skateon, realized this adjustable skatepark that contributed to 'the road to the Olympics'.
The request from the township of The Hague
With skateboarding becoming an Olympic discipline, a sport rooted in surf culture, is maturing. To prepare our skate team for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, there was a need for a professional skateboard training center. Such a training facility must meet numerous requirements. We addressed this with a seamless design that incorporates key adjustable elements one might encounter at competition level. As a result, the skatepark is challenging for beginners to experts.
The realization by Nine Yards
The indoor skatepark was built in collaboration with Skateon. Together, we created the first official skateboard training facility in the Netherlands. Nine Yards equipped the training center with hydraulic skateboard features. Nine Yards was the first company in the world to produce adjustable skate equipment.
The modular/adjustable objects offer numerous possibilities, making the park suitable for various riding styles. Due to the adaptability of the skatepark, the Dutch skate team can be elevated to a higher level.
